The Historic Santa Fe Foundation (HSFF) is seeking an artist to create one color and multiple black-and-white line drawings for a children’s activity/coloring booklet. Subject matter may include some or all of the following: adobe and Santa Fe-Style architecture, acequias, people, flowers, plants, and animals. Once completed, the books will be printed and distributed at HSFF’s historic compound El Zaguán, 545 Canyon Road, during our summer and fall family days and to school groups and available in our gift shop.

Please submit a combined PDF with your name, contact information (phone and email), short bio, and ten examples of your work to HSFF Education & Communications Coordinator Hanna Churchwell at hanna@historicsantafe.org. Please do not create work specifically for this project for the submission. At this time, we only want to view examples of your work. Eligibility
This opportunity is available to all artists working in New Mexico. Artists should submit examples that demonstrate their ability to create work that aligns to the scope of this project (children’s coloring book/activity booklet). If selected for this opportunity the artist must be able to meet in-person multiple times including before work begins. Work must be completed by Wednesday, May 1, 2024.
Compensation
The selected artist will receive credit in the printed booklet, have their name used in publicity, and receive a cash award of $1,500 for the meeting time and art deliverables. The artist will get 5 copies of the booklet as part of their compensation. The artist will also be required to enter into a work-for-hire agreement with HSFF.
Deliverables
1 color, full-page illustration for a 8.5x11” booklet
15 black-and-white, full-page illustrations for a 8.5x11” booklet that may include several full spreads
10-15 black-and-white, small illustrations to be tucked in page corners
Work must be completed by Wednesday, May 1, 2024
