Guidelines on Flood Adaptation for Rehabilitating Historic Buildings Available in Print
Historic Preservation Blog from PreservationDirectory.com -
Contributed By: State, Tribal, Local, Plans & Grants (STLPG) Division of the National Park Service
Email The Author: STLPG@info.nps.gov
Website: https://bookstore.gpo.gov/products/guidelines-flood-adaptation-rehabilitating-historic-buildings

We are pleased to announce that the Guidelines on Flood Adaptation for Rehabilitating Historic Buildings are available in printed format. STLPG helped design these Guidelines to provide information on adapting historic buildings to be more resilient to flooding in a manner that will preserve their historic character and meet The Secretary of the Interior’s Standards for Rehabilitation. Copies of the printed publication can be purchased from the U.S. Government Bookstore at https://bookstore.gpo.gov/products/guidelines-flood-adaptation-rehabilitating-historic-buildings. Alternatively, you can go to https://bookstore.gpo.gov/ and enter the search term “flood.”

These Guidelines outline adaptation methods that lower the flood risk of a property. The goal of this document is to achieve greater resilience while minimizing the impacts to the historic character of a building. To help navigate this process, the Guidelines contain resources that STLPG has put together, including professional flood adaptation methods, preservation considerations, and strategies for successful project planning.
