The Historic District Commission is in the Design + Preservation Division of the City of Charlotte Planning, Design and Development Department. The Planner position will focus on Administrative-level projects and providing customer service throughout the entire review process including pre-application site visits, review applications, Certificate of Appropriateness (COA) issuance, and final inspections. The position will also support interior work only application reviews/processing, coordinate permit hold releases, violations reports, and community outreach and engagement efforts. Candidates will be a part of a team and can expect a fast-paced environment and should excel in communication skills.
Master’s Degree in Historic Preservation, Architectural History, Planning, Architecture, Landscape Architecture, Geography, or related degree.
