TerraXplorations, Inc. is seeking contract-based Field Technicians (multiple positions) for projects in Georgia and Florida. The hourly wage for this position ranges between $18.68 to $22.25 an hour. The rate is dependent on the project. While this call is for contract-based employment, there is potential for full-time employment that would include health and retirement benefits.
Responsibilities:
Works under the supervision of a Field Director, Crew Chief, Principal Investigator, and/or Project Manager.
Performs tasks associated with Phase I, II, and III projects, including shovel testing, excavation, photography, and documentation.
Basic knowledge of the requisite skills for each phase of archaeological investigations, including orienteering for the survey, hand excavation/shovel excavation techniques, documentation of field survey forms/survey areas, sample collection strategies, cursory artifact analysis, and subsurface and surface feature identification.
Minimum Qualifications:
Ability to perform strenuous work in various environmental conditions.
Ability to work in a team-based environment.
Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
Excellent documentation skills.
Proficiency with Google Drive (docs, sheets), Calendar, and Email.
Preferred Qualifications:
A bachelor’s degree in Archaeology, Anthropology, or a closely related field
One or more years of professional experience in Cultural Resource Management and/or completion of an archaeological field school.
Ability to identify historic and prehistoric artifacts from the Southeastern United States.
Experience performing Phase I, II, and III projects.
