Call for Papers Brief: FLWBC 2025 Annual Conference
Theme: The Individual and the Spirit of Innovation
Dates: September 17-21, 2025
Location: Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania

About the Conference
The Frank Lloyd Wright Building Conservancy (FLWBC) invites you to submit proposals for our 2025 Annual Conference. This year's theme, "The Individual and the Spirit of Innovation," explores the role of personal and business innovation in building communities, inspired by Frank Lloyd Wright's legacy and his connections to Pittsburgh.

Topics of Interest
We seek presentations that use biography—of people and buildings—to tell stories of Pittsburgh's evolution. Potential topics include:
-  Architects and Clients: Frank Lloyd Wright, H.H. Richardson, Edgar Kaufmann, Sr.
- Business and Industry Leaders: Andrew Carnegie, Andrew Mellon, Henry Clay Frick
- Writers and Artists: David McCullough, Rachel Carson, August Wilson, Mary Cassatt, Andy Warhol
- Musicians and Performers: Stephen Foster, Stanley Turrentine, Art Blakey, Fred Rogers
- Contemporary Innovators: Individuals contributing to Pittsburgh's ongoing revitalization

Submission Process for FLWBC 2025 Call for Papers

1. Prepare Your Proposal:
-  Abstract: Write an abstract of no more than one page, single-spaced, in PDF format. Include a working title and your name at the top. The abstract should concisely describe the focus and scope of your 20-minute presentation.
-  Biography/CV: Prepare a one-page biography or curriculum vitae. This should include your full name, title, a??iliation (if applicable), mailing address, email address, and telephone number. Mention any extraordinary audio-visual needs you might have.

2. Format Your Documents:
-  Ensure both the abstract and biography/CV are in PDF format.
-  Name the files with your name included
(e.g., John_Doe_Abstract.pdf and John_Doe_CV.pdf).

3. Submit Your Proposal:
- Visit the submission page at savewright.org/proposals.
- Follow the instructions on the website to upload your PDF files.

4. Deadline:
- Make sure to submit your proposal by March 10, 2025.

5. Notification:
- You will be notified of the selection results in early April 2025.

6. Publication Opportunity:
- If your proposal is selected, you may also be invited to develop it into an article for publication in SaveWright magazine.

Tips for a Successful Submission
-  Originality: Ensure your proposal presents fresh material or new interpretations.
-  Clarity: Be clear and concise in your abstract, focusing on the main points of your presentation.
-  Relevance: Align your proposal with the conference theme, "The Individual and the Spirit of Innovation," and consider how it relates to Pittsburgh's history and Frank Lloyd Wright's legacy.

If you need any further assistance or have specific questions about your proposal, please email or call Glenn Burr, Conference and Events Manager at the Frank Lloyd Wright Building Conservancy.
