Call for Letters of Intent for the 2022 List of America's 11 Most Endangered Historic Places
Historic Preservation Blog from PreservationDirectory.com - endangered
Contributed By: National Trust for Historic Preservation
Website: http://savingplaces.org

Every year, the National Trust for Historic Preservation publishes its national list of the most endangered historic places in order to raise the alarm, galvanize public support, and advance solutions to save these unique and irreplaceable historic places.

Beginning October 18, the National Trust is accepting Letters of Intent for the 2022 list of America’s 11 Most Endangered Historic Places.  Anyone wishing to nominate an endangered historic place must submit a Letter of Intent on or before November 12, 2021.

Check www.savingplaces.org/11Most for updates and details on the Letter of Intent process.

The streamlined, new Letter of Intent format allows nominators to more easily share key information about the historic place’s history, how it is threatened, and how the historic place might be saved. After review by National Trust staff, a select number of nominators will be invited to submit full nominations in early December. The final list will be published in June 2022.

“The National Trust is dedicated to protecting historic places that tell the full, unvarnished American story. In these trying times, many such places are threatened in unprecedented ways,” said Rob Nieweg, Vice President for Preservation Services & Outreach. “We ask anyone who shares our concern to submit Letters of Intent before November 12 to bring these endangered historic places to our attention.”

Since 1988, the National Trust’s list of America’s 11 Most Endangered Historic Places has featured over 300 important historic places across the country that were in jeopardy of being lost, and less than 5 percent of listed places have been lost. The Trust’s national endangered list brings significant attention to the importance of historic places at risk and galvanizes local and national efforts to save them.
