Today, we release the 35th annual list of America's 11 Most Endangered Historic Places. Each year, this list shines a light on the threats facing some of the nation’s greatest cultural treasures. More than 300 places have been listed since 1988, and fewer than 5 percent of listed sites have been lost.

The wide range of cultures, histories, and geographies highlighted through the 2022 list help illustrate how telling the full story can help each person see themselves reflected in our country’s multi-layered past.

Their very endangerment puts all 11 sites at a turning point—a critical moment when we as a nation either recognize their significance and and fight to protect them, tell their full stories, and harness their ongoing relevance, or watch them disappear from our cultural landscape and fade into memory.?

With threats ranging from deterioration to climate change to inappropriate development, these special places face immediate risk.?See the full list, and learn what you can do to help protect and support these irreplaceable sites.
