Frank Lloyd Wright Building Conservancy Announces Preservation Planning Grant Pilot Program

The Frank Lloyd Wright Building Conservancy is very excited to pilot a new grant program, which extends the organization’s ability to serve its mission to support the preservation of the built work of Frank Lloyd Wright.

To this end, the Conservancy is launching a pilot Preservation Planning Grant program to provide financial assistance that supports the preservation planning for eligible buildings or structures designed by Frank Lloyd Wright.

Thorough advance planning is critical for the success of preservation projects. While “bricks-and-mortar” activities are the most manifestation of these projects, physical restoration should be the last step in a process that begins with careful planning.
This pilot program will award grants of $5,000-$10,000. The grants will require 20% matching funds but can also be used as a source of matching funds for other eligible grants.

Eligible projects include preservation planning projects that support the long-term viability of the Wright-designed building or structure. Such projects include preparing conditions assessments, engineering studies, maintenance plans, historic resources reports, conservation management plans, National Register nominations and local landmarking, interpretive planning or reuse studies.

Applicant must be a public agency, a 501(c)3, or other not-for-profit organization.
The building or structure that benefits from the grant must be designed by Frank Lloyd Wright as acknowledged by the records of Frank Lloyd Wright Foundation. A list of structures can be found here.

This pilot program is underwritten by Chuck and Kit Henderson.
