The California Office of Historic Preservation (OHP) seeks journey-level archaeologists to formally train as Section 106 historic preservation review staff for the State Historic Preservation Officer (SHPO).

Salary range: $5,940.00 - $7,381.00

At the OHP, you will have an opportunity to learn Section 106 from the inside out. Over the course of your time with our office, you will:

  • Experience every conceivable variation on the intersection of project development and regulatory compliance,
  • Work with the Advisory Council on Historic Preservation to solve complex cases,
  • Develop consultation and conflict management and resolution skills, and
  • Strengthen your understanding of historic preservation through the lens of regulatory program management.
