Type: Full-Time; Salary Range: $75-85,000/year

Nestled in the scenic town of Harrodsburg, Kentucky, our organization is committed to maintaining the historic buildings, grounds, and physical assets that embody the legacy of the Shaker community.
Job Summary: The Director of Historic Preservation at Shaker Village of Pleasant Hill will play a critical role in ensuring the proper stewardship and preservation of the Village's historic buildings, property, and physical assets. This individual will be responsible for developing and implementing plans to care for the buildings and assessing the management of physical assets. Collaboration with department managers, project leadership, historical compliance, and grant writing will be essential aspects of this role.
Responsibilities:
Develop and execute preservation plans for historic buildings, grounds, and physical assets in alignment with the organization's mission and strategic goals.
Assess the condition of structures and assets, identifying necessary preservation and maintenance activities.
Collaborate with department managers to lead and oversee projects related to the sustainment of historic buildings and grounds.
Ensure compliance with historical regulations and processes, integrating best practices for historical preservation and restoration.
Lead the process of grant writing and seeking funding from various sources to support preservation projects and goals.
Applies for and secures available and applicable tax credits.
Provide expertise and guidance on historical preservation techniques, materials, and methodologies to internal teams and external partners.
Manage and lead teams of workers involved in historical preservation projects, providing direction, supervision, and guidance.
Document preservation efforts, including assessments, plans, project progress, and outcomes.
Contribute to educational and interpretive programs that highlight the history and significance of the Shaker Village.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Historic Preservation, Architecture, History, or a related field. Advanced degree preferred.
Minimum of 5 years of experience in historical preservation, with a proven track record of developing and executing preservation plans.
Strong understanding of historical preservation regulations, guidelines, and best practices.
Experience in grant writing and securing funding for historical preservation projects.
Proficiency in project management, including leading teams and managing project budgets and timelines.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues, external partners, and volunteers.
Demonstrated passion for and commitment to preserving historical buildings and assets.
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Proficiency in relevant software and tools, such as CAD software, Microsoft Office Suite, and project management software.
