STATUS & HOURS: Part-time (approximately 5-15 weekly hours depending on availability) temporary position through January 31, 2024. Must be able to collect data for a maximum of three hours at a time including weekdays and weekends.
BENEFITS: Vacation and sick time accruals.

DESCRIPTION: The Minnesota Historical Society (MNHS) seeks applicants to conduct a brief survey of visitors to the Minnesota History Center, Minnesota State Capitol, and Mill City Museum. The survey is part of a national research study on the value of history museums. Staff in this position will ask visitors if they would like to participate in this study and if they do, collect their email address and demographic information.
SUMMARY OF WORK:
- Approach museum visitors, ask to participate in research study and collect demographic information via IPad.
- Follow data collection protocols.
- Interact with museum visitors.
- Accurately record visitors’ responses.
- Set up and take down the “survey station”.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Friendly, outgoing, service oriented.
- Excellent listening skills.
- Interest in talking to people of all ages about a wide range of topics.
- Strong verbal communication skills.
- Able to put people at ease and maintain clear and positive communication in sometimes chaotic surroundings.
- Attention to detail and ability to follow data collection protocols systematically, without deviation.
- Basic familiarity with use of an iPad or other electronic tablet, OR interest in learning the basics.
- Able to collect data for a maximum of three hours at a time.
