LOCATION: History Center - 345 W Kellogg Blvd., St. Paul, MN 55102 COMPENSATION: $55,702.40 annual minimum
STATUS & HOURS: Full-time, regular (approximately 2,080 annual hours) position.

DESCRIPTION: The copywriter position exists to write creative, engaging, accurate and brand appropriate promotional and content material to help increase engagement, awareness and attendance for Minnesota Historical Society sites, museums, programs and mission. The position also works within a creative services team to manage relationships, assets, style guides, best practices and to provide quality control.
SUMMARY OF WORK: 1) Lead creation and writing of copy (including digital and print ads, brochures, flyers, posters, reports, etc.) consistent with program objectives, brand guidelines, and budgetary constraints; 2) Coordinate with internal partners to create efficient copywriting workflows and resources; and 3) Write scripts, interview questions, call sheets and assist with multimedia projects.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent education or experience.
- Five years of experience writing copy, in a creative marketing position, or similar work.
- At least two years of promotional writing experience in a related environment.
- Strong writing skills and demonstrated creativity.
- Strong verbal and interpersonal communication skills.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced and deadline-driven environment. ? Experience writing creative copy and headlines for marketing and promotional purposes.
- Knowledge of local and statewide media, marketing strategies, advertising trends, and implementation.
- Knowledge of typography, art layout, and production.
- Ability to organize simultaneous projects, set priorities, develop budgets, and meet deadlines while managing creative ideals.
- Facility with Google Workspace or Microsoft Office tools.
- Strong attention to detail and project management skills.
- Demonstrated ability to work well under pressure and with high work standards and tight time deadlines.
- Must be self-motivated and be able to work with others as a team.
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Marketing and communications experience with a non-profit and/or cultural organization.
- Understanding and facility with different advertising and copywriting tactics for different mediums
- Experience interviewing a wide range of demographics
- Experience in broadening traditional museum-going audiences and reaching previously underserved audiences
- Familiar with project management software (Trello, Asana, Teamwork, Smartsheets, Basecamp, etc.).
