The Kentucky Heritage Council (KHC) is an agency of the Kentucky Tourism, Arts and Heritage Cabinet and serves as the State Historic Preservation Office (SHPO). The agency is responsible for carrying out the identification, protection and preservation of prehistoric resources and historic buildings, sites and other cultural and historic properties throughout the Commonwealth.

The Restoration Project Manager position (Historic Preservation Tax Credit Reviewer) is primarily responsible for working with applicants seeking state and federal historic preservation tax credits for qualifying projects.
This position works closely with counterparts within the agency and at the National Park Service to ensure compliance with the Secretary of the Interior’s Standards for the Rehabilitation of Historic Properties and provides staff support to other agency programs.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
- Reviews and processes applications for commercial, residential, and other projects seeking to qualify for federal and/or state historic rehabilitation tax credits.
- Reviews plans, construction drawings, and other materials related to historic building rehabilitation to ensure compliance with federal and state guidelines.
- Provides technical assistance and training for constituents, developers, local governments, and the public related to building rehabilitations.
- Works closely with National Park Service staff to maintain consistency between the state and federal historic tax credit programs.
- Assists other agency programs and staff on technical reviews relating to the rehabilitation of historic structures.
- Provides descriptions and plans reviews as needed for preservation easements on historic properties.
- Manages tax credit files and other information related to the review and approval of historic preservation tax credit applications.
- Provides periodic training on the historic preservation tax credit process at conference sessions, symposia, workshops, and public meetings.
Salary: $4,106.86 - $6,160.38 Monthly
Minimum Requirements
EDUCATION: Graduate of a college or university with a bachelor's degree in architecture.
EXPERIENCE, TRAINING, OR SKILLS: One year of professional experience in architecture.
