JOB TITLE: Project Manager II 
LOCATION: History Center - 345 W Kellogg Blvd., St. Paul, MN 55102 COMPENSATION: $57,366.40 annual minimum 
STATUS & HOURS: Full-time, regular (approximately 2,080 annual hours) position. 
BENEFITS: Eligible to participate in State Employee Group Insurance Program and a retirement program with employer contribution. Generous vacation and sick time accruals with additional paid holidays.

DESCRIPTION: This position exists to plan, organize and manage preservation, restoration, repair, and construction projects at the Minnesota Historical Society (MNHS) properties. The Project Manager II position manages and supports projects at MNHS historic sites by managing project planning, budgeting, project files, reporting, and drawings and ensures compliance with records management standards in Capital Planning and Management files in both MNHS network and Google folders. 

SUMMARY OF WORK: 1) Serves as Project Manager or Assistant Project Manager on assigned projects, managing Preservation, Rehabilitation, and Restoration capital projects in the most efficient and cost effective manner to preserve MNHS historic properties; 2) Manage contracting and purchasing processes, and maintain up to date budget summaries for all assigned projects in strict accordance with budget limits; 3) Provide support for Capital Management & Planning operation through administrative support, records management and communications; 4) Contribute to the continued development and best practices at all MNHS historic properties; and 5) Establish and promote internal communications of the work of the MNHS historic properties preservation program among MNHS staff, volunteers, interns, and other stakeholders. 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: 
- Bachelor’s degree in architecture, engineering, construction, construction management, historic preservation, or a related field or equivalent experience. 
- Four years field experience in project management. 
- Proficiency in budget management and financial record-keeping. 
- Familiarity with the Secretary of the Interior Standards for Historic Preservation, Restoration, Reconstruction, and Rehabilitation. 
- Knowledge and experience with construction trades, preservation, and restoration, and repair of historic buildings, landscapes, and structures. 
- Knowledge and skill in construction contract management principles and reading and interpreting construction drawings, plans, and specifications.
- Ability to lead, manage, and motivate project teams to achieve the project’s goals and ability to escalate issues when appropriate. 
- Ability to influence stakeholders without direct authority. 
- Knowledge and skill in using project management software such as Microsoft Project, Google Smartsheet, Trello, or similar. 
- Ability and willingness to travel. 
- Valid driver’s license. 

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS: 
- Graduate degree in architecture, historic preservation, or construction management with three years of experience in any of those, or a closely related field. 
- Experience working and collaborating with Tribal Historic Preservation Offices.

- Familiarity with the National Park Service’s Preservation Briefs.
