Art Deco City: New York Postcards from the Leonard A. Lauder Collection Virtual Tour
January 23, 2025 |
Pull up your favorite chair and embark on a virtual tour of the exhibition currently on view at the Museum of the City of New York. The exhibit features over 250 postcards of New York City in the 1920s, when Deco skyscrapers were brand new, and tourists descended upon NYC to take in these modern marvels firsthand. These postcards were the social media of a century ago, spreading the word around the world about New York's distinctive style. Curator Lilly Tuttle will share with us seldom seen examples of the decorative arts, fashion, photography, drawings, and architectural models from the museum’s archives, immersing us in the dazzling style which defined the modern metropolis. The exhibit, which runs through February 17, was a highlight of the most recent ADSNY Autumn in New York weekend. After seeing the virtual tour, you may want to run and experience the real thing firsthand.
