Conversations with Thomas Jefferson and Captain John Smith

April 26, 2025 |
Two of the most influential men in American history meet for a one-of-a-kind conversation traversing the span of time from the English’s arrival in North America to our separation and founding as an independent nation. Join Thomas Jefferson’s Poplar Forest for our annual Conversations program featuring Thomas Jefferson, portrayed by Bill Barker, in conversation with Captain John Smith, the leader of the Jamestown Colony, portrayed by Willie Balderson. Hear from the two men as they discuss their lives and differing views of government, followed by an audience Q&A.
Following the performance, Thomas Jefferson and Captain Smith will join guests in the lobby at a reception provided by Peakland Catering.
Hosted by the Academy Center of Arts, 600 Main Street, Lynchburg. Tickets for Conversations are $38 for adults (18+), $20 for college students (with student ID) and youth (ages 6–18), $7 for children under 6, plus taxes and fees.
Saturday, April 26. Performance at 7 p.m., followed by reception
