Sculptured Landscapes Shaped by Glaciers Presentation
April 27, 2025 @ 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm

An Endless INSPIRATIONAL Muse for Artists and Scientists

Presented by College of Staten Island Faculty:

Dr. Robert Marraccino, Dr. Richard Veit and Kevin Schreck

Don’t miss the opportunity to see the Melting Age Exhibit!

1.   “Antarctic Voyage” is a new documentary from award-winning filmmaker Kevin Schreck about a biological research expedition to the REMOTE ISLAND of South Georgia, starring charismatic field biologist, Dr. Samantha Monier.

2.  Dr. Richard Veit is broadly interested in the ECOLOGY of BIRDS, with special emphasis on foraging behavior of seabirds and long-distance dispersal and vagrancy of birds in general. He will discuss his research on climate effects upon seabirds and marine mammals.

3.  Dr. Robert Marraccino explores the impact of the LAST GLACIAL age, which SHAPED Staten Island’s landscape. Around 25,000 years ago, melting glaciers carved features like the Staten Island Expressway’s route, flat terrains, and kettle lakes in Clove Lakes Park and Brady’s Pond.
