Connecting the Generations: Recognizing and Sharing Family Treasures

Join Poplar Forest’s African American Advisory Group and the Jones Memorial Library for this special talk and genealogical workshop designed to help researchers on the path to finding their roots. Discover how you can use family treasures and public records to learn about your family history.
The day begins with mingling and a light breakfast before the talk begins at 10 a.m. Genealogist and community historian Bessida Cauthorne White will present “Recognizing and Sharing Family Treasures,” which will explore how to identify, inventory, document and save treasures in your family’s possession. Jones Memorial Library president Deb Smith will share information about local resources and how to start researching your roots in physical records. Hosted at the Jones Memorial Library, 2311 Memorial Avenue in Lynchburg, in partnership with Thomas Jefferson’s Poplar Forest. Free and open to the public; registration is suggested.
