Explore Greensburg: American Art, Architecture & History

July 27, 2024

Join us on Saturday, July 27, for a special bus tour of Greensburg, in Westmoreland County, where we will spend a day exploring the historic roots of a great American city, take in a tour of its renowned museum of American Art, and enjoy its distinctive historic built environment— including a reception at a house that stands as an example of an indelible style in American architecture.

Established in the late 18th century, the City of Greensburg presents the history of Western Pennsylvania in microcosm. From a small town, it developed into a center of trade and commerce in the early 19th century because of its proximity to transit routes. Later, the area’s abundant coal fueled both local industrialization and growth of the city. Today, Greensburg’s economy revolves around professional services, activities at its handsome county courthouse, and local colleges. Downtown Greensburg has a historic district that includes numerous buildings in typical turn-of-the-19th-century historicizing styles.

Saturday, July 27
12:00 noon to 6:30 p.m.

$100.00 per person

This tour is limited to 10 participants.
Tickets will not be available after Thursday July 25.
